Davis Richardson is not just a "tent guy." Davis is a "tent guy" with talents that combine artistic creativity, professionalism and the business management acumen to make your event memorable and worry free.
He "knows" tents because as a high school student he worked for the family tent business. Davis put up tents for events from county fairs to The White House wedding reception for one of President Johnson's daughters.
Davis went on to the U.S. Military Academy where he earned an engineering degree and served with distinction as an Army officer for over twenty-four years in both active
and reserve assignments. His assignments included those of a company commander with the Third Infantry (The Old Guard) at Ft. Myer, VA.; as a military attaché at at the U.S. Embassy, Paris, France; and as a faculty member at West Point, and on the staffs of
the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Army Staff. He holds a masters degree in French from Middlebury College, an M.B.A. from The George Washington University and an M.A. in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
Davis established the Sugarplum Tent Company in Montgomery County, MD, to serve the exciting and growing activities of the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Sugarplum Tent has a well earned reputation for high quality, attention to detail and personal service.
Satisfied clients include: Foulger Pratt, Virginia Military Institute, the Landon School, the U.S. Department of State, Georgetown Day School, Nextel, Hogan and Hartson, Georgetown University, the Department
of Defense, and thousands of proud parents who gave their sons and daughters wonderful and memorable wedding receptions, bar mitzvahs, or birthday parties, or those couples who held simple and gracious garden parties for their friends.
In addition to managing Sugarplum Tent Co., Davis is very active in the community having served as a commissioner on the Maryland-National Capitol Park and Planning Commission, as an adjunct professor of business development and French at Montgomery College. He recently retired form the U.S. Army Reserve as a Colonel after two
mobilization tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation
Iraqi Freedom. Davis holds professional membership in the International Special Events Society (ISES), the National Association of Wedding Professionals, the National Association of Catering Executives, and the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. He and his family are longtime residents of Montgomery County, Maryland. |
